  18. about the weather, but if it ever does, the New York Times is
  19. ready. Last Thursday, the sobersided daily began its national
  20. forecast thusly:

  24. <p>     Snowflakes as big as half dollars produced a slushy cover
  25. yesterday on roads in Duluth, Minn. Ominous but innocuous cold-air
  26. funnel clouds hovered like alien spacecrafts over the warm waters
